I listen to a lot of podcasts, and I have podcasts for every occasion. Today I want to talk about what might be my favorite kind: The inspiring podcasts for self-improvement!
1. Happier with Gretchen Rubin
Happier is a podcast where author Gretchen Rubin and her sister Elizabeth Craft discuss how to build habits that promote happiness, and draw on their own experiences while doing so. I really like Gretchen Rubin’s work, she talks a lot about happiness (which I guess you can see from the title of her podcast!), and she has some great ideas on how to create happiness in your own life.
Recommended episode: #1 – The One Minute Rule. The one minute rule is one of the habits I’ve incorporated into my own life. It simply says that anything you can do in under one minute you should do at once. It’s really worked for me, and I feel like I free up a lot time by doing this, take a listen and see if it’s for you!
As a bonus, here is one of her bite-sized podcasts, built around Voltaire’s saying: Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Which I try to live by, but haven’t mastered yet.
2. Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
As part of the reading challenge I wrote about here, I am reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s book Big Magic. The podcast Magic Lessons is a continuation of the ideas she talks about in that book; how to live a creative life despite your fears and doubts. It’s all about living your best life, and creating the life you want to lead. It’s filled with really powerful conversations about creativity and how to be the best you.

3. The Simple Show with Tsh Oxenreider
The Simple Show is a podcast about living a simple life while making the most out of life and work. Tsh talks to different people who have vastly different experiences and ways of living, and it’s truly interesting.
Recommended episode: #23: How We Work, part 1 with Anne Bogel
Bonuses: Anne Bogel has her own podcast, What Should I Read Next?, it is another of my favorites and is all about books! Tsh also had Gretchen Rubin on one of her podcasts and they talked all about habits! – Ep.20: Better Than Before with Gretchen Rubin
4. TedTalks
If you don’t know about TedTalks you should really check it out: Powerful speakers talk on most topics in the world, and they do it really well. They are short and the perfect size for a small, inspiring podcast experience!
Recommended episode: Judson Brewer talks about a simple way to break a bad habit
5. #girlboss with Sophia Amoruso
#girlboss is a podcast all about women being awesome! Every week Sophia interviews great girlbosses who has made a difference in the world. I love getting up close with women I admire, and to learn more about how they got where they are today.
Recommended episode: Ep1 – Charlize Theron
So these are my favorite inspiring podcasts! What are yours? I am always looking for more podcasts, do you have any podcasts you would recommend me?
These are great Podcast suggestions!
I can’t wait to start listening to them!

I hope you like them! Thank you for your comment 🙂
Great post! I also like The Charged Life, I think you’d love it too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! The Charged Life looks great! I’m going to give it a listen, thank you 🙂
Learning via podcast was one of my New Year’s Resolutions and I really enjoy them. It’s a nice change from the same old music playlists on my daily walk. I’ve heard so many people suggest Gilbert’s new book, but I’m not sure I knew she had a podcast. Ditto TED – I love their videos. Curious to see how they are in podcast format. Most of the shows I listen to are writing-related. I like The Creative Penn, Rocking Self Publishing, Story Grid, and Writing Excuses. Also the Smart People podcast is a good one that isn’t strictly writing topics.
That’s a great resolution 🙂 The Gilbert podcast is quite new, but I like it so far! And to be honest some of the TedTalks doesn’t work quite as well in audio format, but most of them do. I am going to check those podcasts out, I don’t really listen to a lot of writing podcasts so I could use some. The one I listen to is Out on the Wire, which is quite good, it’s a more of a non-fiction writing/journalism podcast.
